Dear Reader,

Did you take part in the EWEA annual event this year? We would like to say Thank you to all visitors. Again, EWEA has been a good place to meet colleagues and friends from all over the world.

On the other hand, EWEA has been the last big event for the European wind industry in 2015. Time to think of 2016. Have you already scheduled your projects for the next months? Our equipment and measurement systems ensure convenient campaigns.

Take a deeper look at some of Meteo-40's features to save time and money, when it comes to campaign controlling and monitoring.

ammonit SMS web

Did you know that you do not need to access the Meteo-40 web interface to get system information? You only need your mobile phone, internet access is not required. Have you ever tried texting with your Meteo-40? Communication can be so easy :-)

By enabling the SMS communication for your Meteo-40 data logger, you can conveniently get system information, start an online session or turn on/off switches of your Meteo-40.

Read the paragraph below about the configuration of the SMS feature. For more details refer to the Meteo-40 manual on or the online help in the Meteo-40 web interface.

Configuring the Short Message Service (SMS) for Meteo-40 data loggers

In order to use the short message service with your Meteo-40 data logger, you require the PHS8-P modem. See Ammonit website for further details about the modem. Additionally the SMS feature should be enabled for your SIM card.

Access the Meteo-40 web interface and go to the Communication → Modem menu. Click on the SMS button below the modem configuration. Enable the short message service and fill in the required fields:

  • Receiver number: Only required for sending the test message.
Note: Meteo-40 always replies to the mobile phone, which has sent the command to the data logger.

  • SMSC: Certain mobile communication providers require an ID of the Short Message Service Center (SMSC). Contact your provider to get the ID.

  • SMS password: A password must be entered to enable the SMS feature. The password is required to send commands to Meteo-40.

 M40 SMS-Config

After configuring the SMS feature, send a test message to check your settings. Currently, there are three options to receive information or to perform any setting on the Meteo-40 by sending the SMS password and a command as the text message content → password command

  • To get system information, send password info

  • To start an online session of the Meteo-40, send password online

  • To turn on a switch, send password switch N on (N is the number of the switch)

  • To turn off a switch, send password switch N off (N is the number of the switch)

Isn't it as easy as a pie? Let us know, which additional SMS commands you would like to have.

ammonit security web

How much time do you spend on checking and verifying measurement data to exclude manipulations? Validating measurement data with nearby wind turbines and met stations is quite time-consuming.

You want to work more efficient? Ask your wind measurement partner to ensure the authenticity of the data by using digital signatures. It is a standard feature for Ammonit Meteo-40 data loggers. We use public key cryptography, which is the highest security standard today.

Just activate your preferred security feature, e.g., digital signature or even encryption, in the configuration process in the Meteo-40 web interface. You can easily verify the digital signature or decrypt cipher text on your computer.
