Directly Communicate with Your Sensors: An Introduction to RS-485
Meteo-42 and Meteo-40 Plus data loggers feature a RS-485 Serial Interface that allows admin users to send one-time commands to connected RS-485 sensors via the web interface.

This enables remote sensor setting changes, debugging, and communication testing, supporting use cases such as requesting sensor status, changing heating settings, baud rates, or sensor identifiers.

The system supports both ASCII and Modbus RTU commands, with a Modbus RTU 'Helper' mode for simplified Modbus request composition.

All RS-485 Serial Interface communication is logged and can be sent to AmmonitOR or via email.

See chapter “5.1.4 RS485 Serial Interface” in the Meteo-42’s manual to find out more.
