Application

The sun radiates energy onto the earth at an hourly rate of 174,423,000,000,000 kW hours. The earth is heated unevenly by the sun – the atmosphere heats up much more quickly in the equator regions than in the rest of the globe and dry land heats up (and cools down) more quickly than the oceans do.

Solar Energy

The sun is the star at the center of our solar system. Inside of this huge nuclear reactor energy hydrogen is melted down to helium at temperatures of 15 Million degrees. This process produces energy – solar energy.

Remote Sensing

Remote sensing systems have become more and more popular in the wind industry as a supplement to the traditional met mast. Remote sensing systems can be applied to complement a wind site assessment campaign or for wind farm monitoring. We at Ammonit recommend using a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). This is a system that uses light to determine wind conditions.

Dynamic Line Rating

Dynamic Line Rating is a technology to increase the transmission capacity by up to 50% of the nominal power. It can possibly help avoid building new routes. The transmission capacity is limited by the maximum operating temperature of the conductor cable. Main influencing factors are the current flow in the conductor and the environmental climatic conditions. Therefore, measurement stations are to be installed in order to collect meteorological information.
